Here is the link to the newspaper article on our garden in the Daily Reflector:
Also, we are trying to collect surplus food to donate to the Food Bank. Until we get a feel for the most efficient method there are two options. You can leave the food at the Schools and Recreation Building between the hours of 8-5 from Monday –Friday. Someone from the Surplus produce crew will then transport it to the Food Bank. Or you can drop it off yourself if that is more convenient for you. Here is the address and related information:
The Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC at Greenville:
497 West Ninth Street, Greenville, NC 27834
Phone: 252-752-4996
Business Hours: Monday - Friday, 8-12 am and 1 - 4 pm.
The building is near the intersection of Dickinson Avenue and Ninth Street. I took a trial run myself on Friday and dropped off 6 pounds of squash. The bag was weighed and a receipt filled out for the Making Pitt Fit Community Garden. It took less than 5 minutes. Please turn in the receipts to myself or to Alice so we can keep track of the bounty. We are also exploring other ways to donate surplus food to the community. I will keep you posted.
